What exactly is an individual development plan (IUP)? Obviously, quite a few of you already know since some schools in Sweden have been working with individual development plans for a number of years. However, at most schools they have recently been introduced. According to the Swedish Compulsory School Ordinance, each student should have an individual development plan as from 2006.

As defined in the general guidelines of the Swedish National Agency for Education, an individual development plan (IUP) is a simple document created during the personal development talk. It should express aims for the future, thus forming part of the basis for cooperation between the school and the home. In the process of assessing and following up each student’s progress, an individual development plan (IUP) should relate to a number of things.

We hope that the information on this website will help you to develop a closer and mutually beneficial working relationship with your child’s schools.

Welcome!
